No spoilers are required in this thread. The assumption is you've read the material already. That is why this thread exists--to provide a place for people to talk without having to try to avoid giving away secrets.

Reread the intro to Clockwork Princess and I wondered if Thinkomancer something new, or just a new word for Spark? It's also interesting that the fighters have madboys. Sparks are subordinate to the politicians in this time.

It's also interesting to see that, in the book, it's very clear that Andronicus and Klaus have figured out the same method for keeping Sparks/Thinkomancers busy and safe for the rest of the world. Give them a place to putter and acknowledgement of their work and they're happy.

My feeling from the intro is also that Andronicus cannot be Tarvek somehow moved to the past; he just seems too unfamiliar with Balan's Gap and Sturmhalten, there's not Tarvek's possesiveness about *my* castle.

I assumed it was just their name for Sparks.
Agreed on Andronicus not sounding like Tarvek. He sounded like himself, and boy do I really want to know more about how this turns out now.

I thought the term might be another word for what Klaus and his lot call the "Deep Thinkers."

And, yes, I too think Andronicus is just plain himself: he's got no sense of dual awareness you'd expect from someone whose knowledge included a future time.

He's got Tarvekian elements to his personality--not least a grumpy frustration with his Muses, that reminds me of Tarvek with Moxana and with much of the world. A sort of distilled sense of "why do you have to make everything so HARD, drat it!" But he's himself. And, yes: I really want to know what the full story of that era was. It's NOT a pretty pink fairy tale, no matter what later eras made of it.

Yes! I'd love to get some insight into Euphrosynia's mind, what she planned and what happened after the wedding.

Next book we get some insight into Mechanicsburg, Vanamonde, Carson, DK and more. Wonder what new tidbit they'll put in front of it? Something about the first Heterodyne or Faustus I'm guessing.

Yes, I'm wondering when someone's going to get around to asking one of the Muses the story. They should know what happened better than anyone.

I do wonder what they're going to do about the next book. The end of book 9 seems like a perfectly awful place to end a novel ("No more delays!") but I don't see anywhere that'd be much better (maybe halfway through 10, end of the Si Vales Valeo?) short of where we are now. It may be that a lot of books 7 and 8 will collapse shorter in a novel format and they could fit the entire castle arc?
